These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of routerhaven.com (the "Site"), operated by Caleb Renwick ("Router Haven," "we," "us" or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

1. Who Can Use the Site

The Site is intended for a general audience. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, or the minimum age required in your country. If you're under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.

2. What Router Haven Provides

Router Haven publishes free guides, explanations, comparisons and troubleshooting steps about home networking, including Wi-Fi, routers, modems, mesh systems, Ethernet, DNS, IP addressing, NAS devices and connected home equipment. All content is provided for general informational and educational purposes.

We may change, update, pause or remove any part of the Site, including individual articles, at any time without notice.

3. Networking Advice Disclaimer

Please read this section carefully before following any guide on the Site.

You make changes at your own risk. Changing router settings, updating or replacing firmware, performing factory resets, editing DNS, opening ports or changing security options can cause loss of internet access, erase saved settings, expose devices to security risks or, in rare cases, make a device unusable. You're responsible for any changes you make to your own equipment and network.

Back up before you change anything. Before following steps that change settings or firmware, we strongly recommend saving a backup of your router's configuration and noting your current settings, including Wi-Fi names, passwords and any ISP login details.

Every setup is different. Router menus, features and firmware vary between models, versions, regions and internet providers. A step that works on one device may look different, or not apply at all, on yours. When our instructions conflict with your manufacturer's or provider's official documentation, follow the official documentation.

Equipment you don't own. Many modems, gateways and ONTs are owned by your internet provider. Check your provider's terms before changing, replacing or resetting equipment you rent from them.

No professional relationship. Reading the Site, or emailing us a question, doesn't create a consulting, technician or support relationship of any kind. We aren't an official support channel for any manufacturer or internet provider. For warranty claims, account issues, outages or hardware faults, contact the manufacturer or your provider directly.

Electrical and physical safety. Some guides mention cabling, wall jacks, powerline adapters or equipment placement. Never open sealed devices or work on electrical wiring yourself. Use a qualified professional for any electrical or structural work.

4. Accuracy of Information

We work hard to keep our guides accurate and current, as described in our Editorial Policy & Methodology. Even so, technology changes quickly, and we can't guarantee that every article is complete, error-free or up to date at the moment you read it. Product specifications, features, prices and availability mentioned on the Site can change without notice.

5. Use of Our Content

All content on the Site, including text, images, diagrams, graphics, logos and the overall design, is owned by Router Haven or used with permission, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may:

  • Read, print or save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use
  • Share links to our articles
  • Quote short excerpts with clear credit to Router Haven and a link to the original article

You may not:

  • Copy, republish, sell or redistribute our content, in full or in large part, without written permission
  • Remove copyright notices or attribution from our content
  • Present our content as your own
  • Use automated tools, bots or scrapers to copy content from the Site in bulk
  • Use our content to train, fine-tune or build datasets for artificial intelligence or machine learning systems without written permission

6. Trademarks

"Router Haven" and the Router Haven logo are our trademarks. You may not use them in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without our written permission.

Brand names, product names and company names mentioned on the Site, such as router manufacturers, internet providers and device makers, are trademarks of their respective owners. Their use on the Site is for identification purposes only and doesn't imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those companies.

The Site is supported by display advertising and may contain affiliate links. When you buy a product through an affiliate link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Ads are served by third-party advertising networks, and we don't control or endorse the products or services advertised. Any purchase you make from a retailer or advertiser is a transaction between you and that company, under their terms. We aren't responsible for products, prices, shipping, warranties or customer service provided by third parties.

Our guides link to outside websites, such as manufacturer support pages, internet provider resources and online tools. These links are provided for convenience. We don't control those websites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. Visiting them is at your own risk.

9. Messages and Submissions

When you send us questions, corrections, suggestions, screenshots or other material ("Submissions"), you confirm that you have the right to share them and that they don't violate anyone else's rights.

You grant Router Haven a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, edit and publish ideas or information from your Submissions to improve or create content on the Site. We won't publish your name, email address or other personal details without your permission.

Please don't send passwords, account numbers or other sensitive personal information.

If we add comments or other community features in the future, you agree not to post content that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, spam, misleading or that infringes anyone's rights. We may remove any content and block any user at our discretion.

10. Prohibited Uses

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
  • Use information from the Site to access networks, devices or accounts you don't own or don't have permission to use
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers or related systems
  • Interfere with the Site's operation, including through malware, denial-of-service attacks or excessive automated requests
  • Click on ads fraudulently or use any method to artificially inflate ad impressions or clicks
  • Impersonate Router Haven, our authors or any other person

If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, please follow the DMCA process described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and all content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

We don't guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, viruses or other harmful components, or that following any guide will produce a particular result.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Router Haven, its owner, authors and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Site or its content. This includes, without limitation, loss of data, loss of internet service, damage to equipment or devices, security incidents, lost profits or business interruption, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

Where liability can't be excluded under applicable law, our total liability to you for any claim related to the Site is limited to one hundred US dollars (USD 100).

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Router Haven, its owner, authors and contributors from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.

15. Termination

We may suspend or block your access to the Site at any time, without notice, if we believe you've violated these Terms or are using the Site in a way that could harm us, other users or third parties.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be handled in the courts of USA, unless applicable law in your country of residence requires otherwise.

18. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms isn't a waiver of our right to do so later. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Editorial Policy, form the complete agreement between you and Router Haven regarding your use of the Site.
